The People are Smoking
Six year old Jim,
Took a walk down the street,
The weather was dim,
But his moods were upbeat!
The man in the corner,
Lit a white cigarette,
And puffed on it slowly,
Like to it he was in debt!
Then further ahead,
A fair lady in red,
Blew smoke like a chimney,
She looks like she’s dead!
Then the man at the sweet store,
Singing a song,
Took drags terribly long,
Something was wrong!
Jim heard the trees crying,
And saw the birds flying,
Then ran quickly to mother,
And began to sing like he’s dying!
The people are smoking,
The green trees are choking,
But the people keep joking,
About the revoking of smoking!
The birds in the air,
Are quickly flying away,
To air that is bare,
In sweet loving pairs!
Twelve year old Lola,
Took a walk down the street,
The weather was dim,
But her moods were upbeat!
She stopped by a shop,
And bought a white cigarette,
And puffed on it gaily,
In not an ounce of regret!
Her mother who watched,
From far down the road,
Drenched in dismay,
Began to croak like a toad!
She walked to her daughter,
In great anger and rage,
And slowly started to sing,
Like a canary in a cage!
The people are smoking,
The green trees are choking,
But the people keep joking,
About the revoking of smoking!
The birds in the air,
Are quickly flying away,
To air that is bare,
In sweet loving pairs!
Twenty year old Simon,
Took a walk down the street,
The weather was dim,
But his moods were upbeat!
From deep in his pocket,
He took out a cigarette,
In a moment he lit it,
As the sun made him sweat!
From somewhere far of,
The man the size of a dwarf,
Whose face made you laugh!
Whose voice made you cough!
Out from his notebook,
Came a lengthy fine bill,
For smoking not where you’re meant to,
And knowingly doing so still!
Then all the people around,
Let their voices make sound,
Barked like dogs in a pound,
The song that’s been going around!
The people are smoking,
The green trees are choking,
But the people keep joking,
About the revoking of smoking!
The birds in the air,
Are quickly flying away,
To air that is bare,
In sweet loving pairs!
